Ryan Willbur is a coffee professional living in Seattle, Washington. He has been a part of the specialty coffee industry since 2005, when he started at a cafe called Lava Java in Ridgefield, WA. Since then, Ryan has made coffee in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Portland, OR, and Seattle. Since 2012, Ryan has been working with La Marzocco USA, where is a member of the marketing team.
Ryan has been involved in SCAA sanctioned barista competitions since the beginning of his career. As a competitor, he placed several times in regional level finals, and was a finalist in the 2009 United States Barista Competition. In recent years, Ryan has served as a USBC Head Judge and as a member of the USBC Competition Committee.
When not obsessing over coffee you can find Ryan playing with new BBQ recipes, cooking other types of food, or geeking out on some new piece of technology. He also has an affinity for travel, and you can read about his travel experiences on this blog.
